How to get your social content to STICK around
As social media experts, we have to work hard to capture the attention of all social media users. We people’s attention spans at an all time low, creators only have about 3 seconds to capture the attention of users before they continue to scroll.
This means we have to make our content stick, so it resonates and creates emotion with our audiences. But in order to get content to stick, we need to remember some key factors.
STICKY = MEMORABLE
Sticky content does not just grab our attention, but also KEEPS our attention and is memorable to us. As mentioned, we only have about 3 seconds to capture the average users attention, so every post needs engaging hooks, topics to grab user attention, and to tell a story.
STOP USING JARGON:
Make sure to use clear phrases and writing when writing copy for your social posts. CTAs should always be clear and to the point. Using visual hirearchy also can help the flow of a post.
PUT A FRESH SPIN ON THE FAMILIAR:
Social media users typically don’t want to see the same exact trend or video recreated by everyone. Take your own spin on trending and relatable content to stand out and show off your creativity.
MAKE 'EM FEEL SOMETHING:
If your content lacks storytelling and emotional depth, it’s likely to fall flat. People connect with posts that make them feel, whether it’s inspired, empowered, or part of something bigger.
Stickiness is what makes content memorable, shareable, and impactful. Your social media goals should not be just “to go viral,” but to resonate, inspire, and create action from users. By using clear language and messaging, storytelling, showing your credibility, and emotion, you can create content that sticks! Sticky content can be a powerful source for making connections and creating change.
